microbiome and health

Summer Is Over

Summer is over and we are into late summer (usually happens when our schools go back). I got to get a holiday and bring some great reading to the beach. Pia and I engage in great, free flowing discussion about many aspects of our abdominal treatments and how effective Abdominal Acupuncture can be for internal complicated syndromes.

I have been doing lots of research for my advanced course which explores the deeper aspects of Abdominal Acupuncture, using the Bagua to treat internal conditions including Menstrual and Menopausal problems, Male and female Fertility, Insomnia, IBS, Asthma, emotional problems and much more. The course will also review point location and give some speedy accuracy tips and explores ways to improve results with Abdominal Acupuncture, we will also look at some more functions of abdominal points. The course will be approximately 50% hands on, so participants can master the subtleties of this wonderful system.

Pia and I also discuss some of the research I have been doing into the microbiome and how it affects our health, mood, decision making and emotional demeanour. We discuss the potential of Abdominal Acupuncture on influencing the environment of the microbiome and wether it might be able to favour good bacteria rather than other bacteria that encourage disease. We share some of our clinical stories and discuss different ways of working with abdominal and other methods. We chat about some of the new insights from our clinics and different trainings. I have been researching using abdominal palpation and clearance points to improve abdominal diagnosis and treatment outcome. Pia and I chat about the different abdominal palpation and diagnostic techniques as seen through the eyes of Hara / Abdominal Bagua and Chi Nei Zhang methods and try and explain how these can be married into a system that works in clinic. As with all Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) modalities there are different systems which can work equally well, depending on your favoured / theoretical understandings!

We share our enthusiasm for different aspects of abdominal treatment, and we discuss some of our observations from using the wonderful “Lotus Flower” or Abdominal Meridian System (AMS) opening treatment and the benefits of this protocol. Seeing as we will be in the transitional phase of the seasons changing, Autumn officially starts on the 23rd of September so this is a great time to use the Abdominal Meridian System (AMS) opening treatment  to nurture the Spleen / Earth. I have also been doing some research into the 5 elements balancing treatment on the abdomen which is particularly effective for emotional disharmony and is less likely to have a negative impact on constitutional energy reserves.

I hope you find this Podcast interesting and look forward to interacting more over the rest of the year.
